Greetings,
We are getting winter now! The trails have received over 48” of snowfall in the last 2 weeks. That has settled down but the snowpack is sure looking a lot better. Last Sunday we went up to groom, expecting a couple inches (that is what the Burgess Snotel reported) and boy were we in for a surprise! 12-18” of snow and snowed most of the day. Matt McMeans Clint Moseley and I spent 7 hours packing and blading the trails. I made three trips through Blue Creek with the old Alpine and wanted to roll it but the roller I was pulling decided to fall apart. We brought it off the mountain, Tom and I repaired it, and Hermes Lynn and I took it back up last night. Once again we were greeted by the snow gods with a blessing of 5-6” on new snow and another 3” fell while we were there. We re-rolled and bladed all the trails but did not get to Cutler.
The plan is at this time for 5 of us to hit the trails Friday night to re-pack and set tracks at Sibley and pack Cutler. You have read my wining in the past about how much work it is when the trails get a heavy snow fall. We have over 50 man hours in the last two weeks and have just been barely staying ahead of the snow. We are going to do our best to have the trails in good shape for this weekend.
The Sheridan Press is supposed to be running an article on the ski trails maybe in this Saturday paper.
Saturday is looking like an early sunny spring day and snow returning on Sunday.
Happy trails,
Curt
