Hello,
I hope everyone is having a great Martin Luther King Jr. day! How many of you snuck up to the nordic trails to ski on some fresh snow!?
We are super thankful for some fresh snow on the trail system. Curt reports 2 inches of fresh snow on the mountain. It looks like we may get an additional 1-2 inches by tomorrow night.
With the warmer temps, there are no real options for skiing in town. As many of you may be aware there has been a substantial impact on the South Park natural area in the last 10 days. The city has started using that area to dump old and dirty snow. From the looks of it, this will likely end town skiing for the remainder of the ski season even if we get more snow and the temps cool off.
If you would like to express your concerns about dumping dirty snow at South Park Natural Area you can email your local City officials. You can also email Rob Davidson ([email protected]) to join the group of individuals advocating for South Park Natural Area.
Sibley:
Joe and Clayton plan to head up to Sibley Thursday afternoon to freshen everything up. The skiing on the trails is still very good with 1-2 inches of fresh snow. This should slow things down a bit and help improve the icy base. Check the website later this week for more accurate information.
Cutler:
Jared will also touch up Cutler on Thursday evening. Check the website later this week for more accurate information.
Various groomers worked on widening Cutler’s trail system this last weekend and they delimbed a few branches that were sticking onto the trail. The addition of the Ginzu and the track setter has made Cutler feel like a new trail system!
Classic tracks are still a new concept to many users at Cutler, especially the walkers. Please kindly remind them that we do not promote walking in the classic tracks as it ruins them. You can refer the walkers to the signs that you will see throughout the Meadow loop.
We have been working with the Bighorn National Forest service to try and get the port-a-potty emptied. Jared did his best to knock things down a little bit and buy us an extra week. Please be aware that the toilet is nearly at max capacity.
South Park:
We will not be hosting the Discovery Ski Day at South Park. The backup plan is the Story Centennial Park in Story, WY.
