Last Fridays grooming did not go quite as planned. Everything got groomed but there was a meeting of a tree with the Skandic on a narrow section of the trail. The tree and operator are ok but the Skandic received extensive frame damage. Right now the Skandic is out of commission but we may be able to get some temporary repairs done when I get back so it could be used for the rest of the season. It is going to take a lot of work to repair when we get it down off the mountain at the end of the season. We also are having some issues with the Alpine at Cutler and at this point it is still running and I hope it makes it to the end of the season.
There is a lot of snow in the forecast this week and at this point who knows how much we will get. Tom is planning on going up Friday to groom. If we don’t get a ton of snow and everything keeps running he should have the trails ready for the weekend. Don Day weather was saying today that starting next week, the following three weeks will probably be colder than is was in January with more snow, so our grooming season should go through at least mid-March. We usually quit grooming around the end of March, weather dependent. At this point I just hope we can finish out the season without any more equipment trouble. We have had more things go wrong this season than any other season thus far. Maybe we were overdue.
Thanks again for all your support. We have had our best year for dues and donations and we have also incurred more expense this season so it is much needed.
Happy trails,
Curt
