Good morning,

The doubters were wrong, very wrong. The storm lived up to its name and we now have so much snow that we don’t even know what to do with it all. The good news is there is skiing in town and there are zero obstacles on mountain trails.

South Park:
Curt and Gordon worked on South Park this week. It is in pretty solid shape, with only a few thin areas. The trail is just under a mile but offers great skiing for in town. Get it while it lasts!

Sibley Lake:
Two groomers went up to tackle Sibley Lake yesterday evening. When they headed up the mountain all the roads were open and good to go, but that was not the case when driving off the mountain at 8:30 pm. By that time the roads had drifted over and the interstate was closed. Luckily the groomers made it home safely.
Sibley lake had anywhere from 15-18″ of fresh dry snow. The groomers did their best to pack it all down. They did not lay corduroy or tracks. The goal is to go back up Friday night or Saturday morning to freshen up the trail. It was still dumping on the groomers when they left the mountain at 8:30 PM.

Cutler Hill:
We have not had a chance to make it to Cutler Hill yet. The goal was to send groomers up today to pack down the trail system, but as I write this trail report the interstate is still closed. So don’t hold your breath on that. Hopefully, Cutler will be packed down by Friday evening.
Do not expect stellar trails as they will likely be off-camber due to drifting and the snow will be very soft. We don’t typically recommend wearing gaiters while nordic skiing on our trails, but it might be wise to bring a pair of snow gaiters with you to Cutler Hill this weekend.

Memberships/Donations:
If you haven’t already, make a donation to Black Mountain Nordic Club this giving season. All of your money goes directly back to you by providing you, your family, and your friends with amazing nordic trails in your backyard. We are truly blessed to have such great trails.

Thank you to those who have already donated for the 2022-23 season!

Happy skiing!

Sincerely, your BMNC Team
